Supplement Facts Label Generator
What Goes on a Supplement Facts Panel
A Supplement Facts panel describes dietary ingredients, not a food's nutrients, which is why it is a separate table from Nutrition Facts. The panel opens with Serving Size and Servings Per Container. Below that, each dietary ingredient gets a row with the amount per serving, the unit it is measured in, and a % Daily Value where one has been established. A line labeled Other Ingredients covers everything that is not a dietary ingredient, such as fillers, capsule material, and preservatives. The panel closes with a footnote that explains any † marking.
How to Build a Supplement Facts Panel Here
- Choose a layout and set the serving. Pick the format that fits your package, then enter Serving Size and Servings Per Container.
- Add the dietary ingredients. For each row, enter the name, the amount per serving, the unit, and either a % Daily Value or the † mark. Then list anything else on the Other Ingredients line.
- Check the live preview and download. The panel redraws as you type, so the exported file matches what you approved.
Supplement Facts vs Nutrition Facts
The two panels share a visual language but answer different questions. Nutrition Facts describes the nutrients in a serving of food; Supplement Facts describes the dietary ingredients in a supplement.
| Feature | Supplement Facts | Nutrition Facts |
|---|---|---|
| Lists | Dietary ingredients in a supplement | Nutrients in a serving of food |
| Other Ingredients | Own line when present | Not used |
| Calories from Fat | Not shown | Not shown, removed in the 2016 revision |
| No Daily Value | % DV column shows † | % DV left off that row |
| Typical products | Capsules, powders, liquids | Packaged foods and drinks |
Use the supplement panel for a supplement and the nutrition panel for a food or drink. Labeling food? Start from a nutrition facts label template instead.
Ingredients With No Daily Value
Some dietary ingredients have no established Daily Value, so there is no percentage to print. In that case the % Daily Value column carries the † symbol instead of a number, and the bottom of the panel gains a line reading “† Daily Value not established.” The two must appear together: a † with no footnote explains nothing, and a footnote with no † refers to nothing. Never write 0% instead: that claims the ingredient supplies none of a value that exists, which is a different statement.
What Printing Costs
Previewing costs $0. The preview is watermarked and limited to the default settings, enough to check the layout. A single-label PDF is $3.99, and the printable batch sheet is a $5.99 package that includes it. Each payment covers one download, nothing renews automatically, and no account is required. See pricing for what each file contains.
What This Tool Does Not Do
The generator lays out the panel; it does not evaluate the product. It runs no nutrition analysis, performs no laboratory testing, and offers no regulatory advice or certification. Those judgments come from your formulation and your regulatory review, not from a formatting tool. Check the finished file against 21 CFR 101.36 before it goes to a printer.
Labels generated by this tool are for reference and formatting purposes only and are not certified as FDA compliant.
Supplement Facts Label FAQ
Is this supplement facts label generator free?
Previewing is $0: open any layout, enter your ingredients, and check the panel with a watermark on screen. You are charged only when you download — $3.99 for the single-label PDF, or $5.99 for the batch sheet package.
Does it work for capsules, powders and liquids?
Yes. The panel ignores the dosage form; it prints serving size, servings per container, and your ingredients. Capsules, powders, liquids, and softgels use the same layout, so switch formats to fit the bottle or pouch.
What are “Other Ingredients” and do I have to list them?
Other ingredients are everything that is not a dietary ingredient: capsule material, fillers, flavors, preservatives. When the product contains them, list them on their own line below the ingredient rows. A product with none leaves the line out.
How do I show an ingredient that has no Daily Value?
Put † in the % Daily Value column and add “† Daily Value not established” at the bottom of the panel; the two belong together. Do not enter 0% — that claims the ingredient supplies none of an established value.
Can I use a Supplement Facts label on a food product?
No. A food or beverage uses Nutrition Facts, which describes nutrients per serving, while Supplement Facts is for products taken as supplements. If your product is a conventional food, start from the nutrition facts label generator instead of reshaping a supplement panel.
Do I need to register with the FDA to use this?
The tool is a formatting aid, not a regulatory service, and it registers nothing with the FDA. Whether your product or facility needs registration depends on what you make and where you sell it; confirm that with the FDA or a qualified professional.
What do I actually get when I pay?
You get a clean file of the panel you previewed: a print-sized PDF and a high-resolution PNG. Adding the batch sheet puts a multi-page sheet and the single-label files in one ZIP. No subscription is attached.
